In 2023, Valley Children’s maintained its exceptional quality metrics thanks to our physicians, staff and volunteers who continue to be dedicated to enhancing care for our young patients.

Working together with a multidisciplinary approach, we accomplished these remarkable achievements:

  • More than 94% reduction in central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) since 2012
  • Zero ventilator-associated pneumonias (VAPs) for the sixth consecutive year
  • Nearly 94% reduction in catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) since 2012
  • More than 97% reduction of surgical site infections (SSIs) since 2012
  • A 93% decrease in unplanned extubations (UPEs) in NICU and a 81% decrease in PICU since 2016
  • 99% hand hygiene compliance as of September 30, 2023
