Building a Stronger Healthcare Workforce with a Pathway to a Nursing Career

Valley Children’s is dedicated to developing innovative programs that invest in both people and potential. Among these efforts is the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Pathway Program, which enables associate-prepared nurses to gain valuable clinical experience while pursuing their bachelor’s degree.

Valley Children’s ASN to BSN Pathway Program is designed with three core elements: fully funded tuition with no out-of-pocket costs, paid time for studying and mentorship with ongoing guidance and support. This focus on professional growth and leadership helps ensure that nurses are prepared for the challenges of modern healthcare. The 18-month program equips nurses with the skills needed to thrive in today’s healthcare landscape.

“The importance of offering the ASN to BSN program to our workforce is that it allows those associate prepared nurses to start working and getting some clinical experience under their belt, then going back for advanced degree attainment,” said Valley Children’s Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Vicky Tilton. “It’s advanced training, it’s a focus on leadership and it’s really focused on professional growth.”

Real-world Impact

The transition from ASN to BSN is a crucial step for registered nurses (RNs) to advance their education and careers. BSN-prepared nurses are better equipped to handle the complex healthcare needs of diverse populations, produce improved patient outcomes and reduce hospital stays and readmissions. This investment in advanced education ensures better care for our diverse communities and our patients.

“A lot of research shows that BSN-prepared nurses produce better outcomes in hospitals. They are better prepared to address emerging healthcare needs and serve our diverse communities effectively.”
